The average small business owner or local entertainer relies on word of mouth exposure, direct referrals, and then their marketing. Even if us business owners have our marketing in place to reach strangers who may be searching for our services, we many times miss out on opportunities (and recognition) simply because someone doesn’t take 5-10 seconds to give a simple namedrop.
One of the kindest gestures is to say just a few kind words and tag the page or business owner, when you see someone asking for a referral to the service your friends business offers. The next most effective gesture anyone can do for their friends small business is to Like / Share their company page. This helps create branding exposure for the business. And one of the final, most long lasting gestures is to leave a positive review on the company’s social platforms &/or website. These are but 3 very easy, simple, and nice ways to help support your friends businesses. I try to do this as often as possible, even though I am not on here all day. And I absolutely make a conscience effort to do so, when I see it being done for me.
While I always try to give a positive outlook … I will not lie that we are constantly working to figure out what more we can do to keep business flowing and help grow our company and build our future. It’s tough being a business owner. I have big dreams for my family and no plans to stop or ever sell myself short in this life…and it just so happens that in order for us to be successful, we need to make other businesses successful too. Which is a part of my job I love. But, it sucks to see friends not support one another.
So, if you see someone asking for a referral to a friends business, take 10 seconds and be a good friend. You have no idea how much it could help that friends business! Many of you spend hours a day on here, sharing garbage, but not supporting one another..why?!
